Course Overview

This course aims to provide the basic theoretical knowledge and practical skill required for personnel involved in Scaffold construction, maintenance and inspection for offshore & onshore oil & gas industry in Thailand.

This TPTI approved course is a legal mandatory minimum for anyone performing scaffolding activities offshore and onshore in the Thai oil and gas industry.

Who should attend

All entry level scaffolders

Physical and Stressful Demands

Training and/or assessment activities contained within this Standard may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully.

Prerequisites

Valid in-date TPTI WAH or WAH+R certificate.

Valid in-date offshore medical or fitness to work certificate (Valid within 12 months)

Course Outline

By the end of the program, participants will have the knowledge to identify, list, describe and/or demonstrate:

  • An outline of the requirements for scaffolding including personal and worksite safety, protection of others
  • Identification and use of the common forms of scaffolds with emphasis on British Standard tube/coupling types, common fittings and accessories
  • Use, inspection and maintenance of safety equipment including Full Body Harness with Shock Absorber Lanyard by following manufacturer’s instructions
  • Preparation, use, inspection and maintenance of scaffolding materials
  • Use, inspection and maintenance of ladders, Gin wheel
  • Know and practice the criteria required for safety inspection of all types of scaffolding structures
  • Proper sequence and practice for the erection, alteration and dismantling of Tower scaffolds, Independent scaffolds, Cantilevered Scaffolds (theory), Birdcage Scaffolds (theory)
  • Understand the planned work and the hazards involved
  • Recognize safety hazards in the types of scaffolds listed above
