Course Overview
This training course specifically deals with offshore crane emergency load lowering systems for personnel required to operate and maintain offshore pedestal cranes. Having personnel that have been trained and are competent in using emergency load lowering systems offshore is essential to safely recover loads should the crane suffer a power failure or other incident where normal motor functions are lost. As has been evident in Thailand in the recent past, inadequate crane operator and crane inspector training leads to disasterous consequences when the emergency load lowering systems are not fully understood and operated by personnel with inadequate skills or knowledge.

Training and/or assessment activities contained within this Standard may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully.
Prerequisites
Valid in-date offshore medical (Valid within 12 months)
Course Outline
Acquire competence in the theory and practice of the following:
- Common procedures.
- Identification of winch type.
- Emergency load lowering procedure for Braden PD/BG series (4 bolt) winch.
- Emergency load lowering procedure for Braden CH series (8 bolt) winch.
- Emergency load lowering procedure for Herkules.
Certification
TPTI certificate. Validity 3 years.
