Course Overview

A course designed to ensure that all personnel charged with ordering, controlling, maintaining, documenting and inspecting rigging and lifting equipment and accessories have the prerequisite knowledge and skills to construct and maintain a lifting register.

Who should attend

All personnel charged with ordering, controlling, maintaining, documenting rigging equipment, and all rigging supervisory personnel.

Aims & Objectives

The course aims to provide knowledge and skills necessary to document and log the unique ID numbers, description, test and examination date and status of the lifting appliances and equipment register.

Physical and Stressful Demands

Training and/or assessment activities contained within this Standard may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully.

Prerequisites

Valid in-date offshore medical (Valid within 12 months)

Course Outline

On completion, participants will be able to demonstrate competence in the theory and practice of the following:

  • Unique numbers (Company & Manufacture designated)
  • Legislation (Company & Standards)
  • Requirements (inspection & testing schedules)
  • Certifying Authorities
  • Certification Specifications – API
  • Documentation, Master & Working Copy
  • Correctly Identifying equipment (Warehouse)
  • Tracking equipment from, requisition, P.O. to Register
  • Correctly Identifying equipment (Field)
  • Terminologies

And will be able to:

  • Request venders to correctly stamp & supply certification on equipment at P.O. level
  • Correctly identify and stamp unique I.D. numbers & markings in Warehouse and in Field
  • Set up and monitor inspection & testing schedules
  • Understand Certification, Legislation, Specifications & Standards Used
  • Understand Documentation, Terminologies, Tracking equipment from requisition, P.O. to Register
  • Understanding Certifying Authorities
  • Fabricating a Registry, electronic and paper
