Course Overview
The Travel Safely by Boat standards were originally a core element of the Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Response Training standard (TBOSIET), which was developed jointly by the management of MEGAMAS Training Company Sdn Bhd; Kuala Belait, Brunei and Brunei Shell Petroleum. The element was titled “Travel Safely by Boat” and addressed the Brunei regional requirement for boat travel to and from offshore platforms and transfer of personnel between the vessel and the offshore platform. Those regions where boat travel and transfer is prevalent can now adopt this standard.

This programme is designed to meet the initial onshore safety and emergency response training for new entrants and all personnel currently traveling and transferring by boat to an offshore oil and gas installation.
Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of Travel Safely by Boat (TSbB) training standard are to ensure that all personnel traveling/transferring by boat to work in offshore areas achieve the following:
- Awareness of the risks to which they are exposed and how they are managed
- An understanding of the essential safety rules with which they must comply and how to act in an emergency
- An increase in their personal commitment to safety
- Effective use of personal safety equipment
- Practice and demonstrate correct method of boat transfers (simulated boat deck and installation)
Physical and Stressful Demands
Training and/or assessment activities contained within this Standard may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who participate in such activities must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully
Prerequisites
Valid in-date offshore medical (Valid within 12 months)
